Scaling – How To

Are scaling and growth the same thing? Does one cause the other and vice versa?

If you are familiar with Blue Elevator®, then you are hopefully familiar with our trademarked phrase.  Innovate, Accelerate, Replicate®.

In addition, you may be familiar with our simple and illustrative scaling metric.  To wit, Level 1, 2, or 3.

Innovate, Accelerate, Replicate®

First, if you want to scale your organization, you will need to continually Innovate, Accelerate, Replicate®.  That means, you will need to follow this ...

What’s Next?

What’s next?  It’s June 2020.  We have been through the Coronavirus lockdown, murder hornets, and protests/riots/looting.

Sometime mid-March 2020, the Coronavirus rolled into town — and summarily into just about every country around the globe [Although, as of this writing, some healthcare professionals believe exposure may have been much earlier…e.g., in California].

History will reveal the true nature of this pandemic.

  • Was it a natural mutation from a wet market in China (e.g., happenstance)?
  • Was it a mistaken release (e.g., a mistaken release ...

DSO

DSO stands for Days Sales Outstanding.

This article discusses this important ratio (or metric) and what it means to your business.

What Is DSO?

DSO represents the average number of days it takes for you to collect or realize sales revenue.

Example 1: Cash Sale

Let’s say, for example, you sell a widget for cash.  And the person pays you right away.  Your DSO will be zero.  You collected your sale real time.

Example 2: Credit Sale

Stopping And Starting

Stopping And Starting

When it comes to stopping and starting, there is a tandem takeaway.  But before we get there, let’s start here:

  • Don’t strike out!
  • Please don’t miss the free-throw!
  • Don’t fumble the football!

Think about these things for a minute.  Pretty high-pressure situations, right?

All of these are things you want to avoid if you’re an athlete.

How About This Scenario?

It’s game seven of the World Series.  Ninth inning.  Game tied.  Bases loaded.  Two outs.  Full count.

You call a time-out to reflect on your coach’s ...

Triple B (More Like ‘Quadruple B’)

Triple B

Triple B was not the original title.  I would have preferred to call this article the Three Bs.  But, URLs don’t like apostrophes.  And, calling it BBB would be infringing on the Better Business Bureau’s branding.

Nevertheless, big or small, every business needs to be about the Triple Bs.  And, as we indicated in the title, probably more like four Bs.

Your Vehicle’s Dashboard Gauges

Most vehicles will have the following instrument gauges on the dash board:

  • A speedometer
  • A gas gauge
  • A volt-meter (this ...

Jungle Fighting

Jungle Fighting

I remember when I first heard the term ‘jungle fighting.’  It was many years ago.

During my career, I served in various organizations as the Controller and/or Chief Financial Officer, as well as General Manager.

And, I would say for providential purposes, I was called to serve during some very challenging times.  Both, in terms of a company’s development and the overall economy.

It’s Lonely At The Top

I was having lunch one day with the partner of a CPA firm.  I was ...
