WDF – A Three Part Series

As I reflect back on my personal experience in five different decades, my hope is to impart wisdom from a blazed trail.

If a “blazed trail” is not a familiar term, here’s some history: The term “Blazed trail” reflects back to the days of mountain men, trail guides, etc.  These pioneers, when traversing large expanses of unfamiliar wilderness territory, would take their hatchet and “blaze” (e.g., mark) trees.  This way, future passers-by could travel with confidence knowing they were on the right trail.

This article introduces a “blazed” section of trail with three different mile markers.  Each concept is independent, but all of the concepts work together.

What is WDF?

For the record, I invented the acronym WDF many years before it’s similar cousin started being used.

I often use acronyms to help me remember things (Thank you, Newt Becker – the Founder of the Becker CPA Review Course).

When studying for the CPA exam, there were so many concepts and so much to learn, so Newt Becker, the CPA Review Course Founder and Creator, would often communicate lessons to aid memorization by using acronyms.

An acronym is a string of letters where each letter stands for a certain concept.

Most of us recall one from our schooling days: PEMDAS.  It represents the order of operations in solving math equations.  P = Parentheses. E = Exponents.  M = Multiplication.  D = Division.  A = Addition.  S= Subtraction.

Along these lines, WDF is a mnemonic.  And, it can be considered an order of operations in business.

Now, you’ll have to read the series to learn about WDF.  I won’t give it all away here!

Ready, Set, Go!

I encourage you to jump over to the the first article on the WWrite it Down.
