Working Twice As Hard

Working Twice As Hard

As a business owner or executive, do you ever feel like you are working twice as hard to grow your business?

And, despite working twice as hard, do you ever feel like you’re making half as much

You Are Not Alone

As the Founder of Blue Elevator™, I have observed countless entrepreneurs over the years.  And, my observations pretty much follow the human experience.

Some entrepreneurs start out and become an overnight success.  Then, there are others who start out like gang busters and fizzle out.  Some are steady plodding.  Still, others struggle to even get off the launching pad.

This article is dedicated to a certain category of entrepreneurs: the hard-working.

Working Twice As Hard, But …

For as long as I’ve been alive, society has rewarded the hard worker.  We call it work ethic.  In my day, employers, teachers, and coaches would look for the diligent and discount the lazy.

  • “Early to bed, early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise.”  At least, that’s what my mom told me.  Now, I’m not too sure if all of that saying is true – and it’s certainly not politically correct.
  • But here’s a trustworthy saying: “One who is slack in his work is brother to one who destroys.” – Proverbs 18:9

So, for the record, God willing, you’re much better off working hard than you are hardly working.

But, there’s a catch.

The Catch

I’ve also observed something else.

Sometimes, the hard-working don’t reap the rewards for their hard work.

Scaling Your Business

As the Founder of Blue Elevator™, I look for hard-working entrepreneurs.  How could I not?  At an early age, I was taught the important lesson of working hard.

And there’s a good reason for it.  “An object in motion stays in motion.”

It takes a lot less energy to provide custom, collaborative, and actionable advisory to those who want it.  Hard-working entrepreneurs implement advisory.  Lazy ones do not.

At Blue Elevator™, God willing, we help entrepreneurs scale their businesses.  Scaling is a fancy word for repeatable growth.

Scaling Your Business – The Default Position

Here’s another trustworthy saying: “All hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty.” – Proverbs 14:23

If you’re an entrepreneur, do you ever feel like you’re working twice as hard, but only making half as much?

If so, you’re not alone.  What if I told you that is likely the default position of most scaling efforts?

Whether by default or design, hard-working entrepreneurs want to grow and scale their businesses.  It’s just that, unless specifically-designed otherwise, it’s not uncommon to end up making half as much – maybe even not much at all.

How does this happen?

Don’t Just Work Hard

We’ll tell you how it happens.  It kind of happens automatically.

That is, unless you intentionally design things otherwise.

Here’s another familiar phrase: “Work Smart – Not Hard.”

All sayings are not created equal.  And, sadly, not all sayings are true.  But, I’d like to give the author partial credit for the adage “Work Smart – Not Hard.”

Work hard.  You have to.  It’s just the way of things.  “Through laziness, the rafters sag; because of idle hands, the house leaks.” – Ecclesiastes 10:18

But, by all means, work smart.

So, at Blue Elevator™ we say, “Work Smart – Work Hard.”

The Blue Elevator™ Value Proposition

As mentioned, you have to work smart and hard.

Most entrepreneurs have the desire to grow.  You might even be in the midst of growth as you read this.  Now, the question is this: Are you making twice as much?  Or, are you working twice as hard and making half as much?

At Blue Elevator™, we help the hard-working work smarter.

God willing, we would you like you to check out the secrets behind how to put more of your hard work in your pocket.  Contact us!
